BCF Gets Bolder: Boulder Creek Festival Announces DeadPhish Orchestra Headliner, Drag Show, “Jeff and Paige” Kids Performers, Live Painting Battle, and More

Additionally, tickets for Creekside Beer Fest go on sale April 12 

GOLDEN, Colo. (April 11, 2022) - The City of Boulder and Team Player Productions (TPP) have announced a new wave of Boulder Creek Festival® events including Deadphish Orchestra headlining the first-ever Friday kickoff show, a live spray painting battle from Street Wise Arts, a performance by beloved kids’ performers Jeff and Paige, and a Sunday drag show. Additionally, BCF has announced that tickets for the Creekside Beer Fest go on sale on Tuesday, April 12. 

Boulder Creek Festival is a free downtown festival from May 28-30, 2022.

“We’re doubling down on our commitment to appeal to a wide range of festival-goers by executing a variety of experiences that range from a drag brunch to children's performance by Jeff and Paige to a mashup Grateful Dead and Phish band,” said Boulder Creek Festival Event Director Ryan Slater. “We think everyone will find an experience that speaks to them and brings them to downtown Boulder during the three-day festival.”

In March, Boulder Creek Festival, celebrating its 33rd year, announced it would return to Memorial Day Weekend. Newly announced features include:

  • Creekside Beer Fest: Tickets are on sale tomorrow for the Creekside Beer Fest’s four sessions: Saturday, May 28, 12-2 p.m. and 3-5 p.m. as well as Sunday, May 29, 12-2 p.m. and 3-5 p.m. Imbibe with more than 15 Colorado breweries including Avery Brewing Company, Upslope Brewing Company and Four Noses Brewing Company the full brewery list will be announced at a later time.

  • Street Wise Arts Live Painting: Street Wise Arts, a nonprofit that has installed more than 100 murals in Boulder, will be hosting a live spray painting battle with 10 artists. Each artist will paint a picnic bench that will live in the Boulder community. Attendees will vote on their favorite and the winner receives a grand prize of $500 and sponsor gifts.

  • Live music lineup: The weekend of more than 30 musical artists kicks off with Deadphish Orchestra on Friday night, features a Sunday evening show with Hazel Miller & The Collective, and culminates on Monday night with the Boulder Sound Machine, an all-star jam featuring Shawn Eckels of Andy Frasco and the UN, Casey Russell of The Magic Beans, Dave Watts of The Motet, Brian Adams of Deadphish Orchestra and Will Trask of The High Hawks.   • Queen of the Creek Drag Show: Venus Victrola will host a drag show at the Bandshell from 10-11 a.m. on Sunday. Pickup food from over 30 food trucks, then tune into the lively show. 

  • Jeff and Paige: Jeff and Paige will be bringing their kid-friendly music and stories that bring science and nature to life. Creekside For Kids will be hosted Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Community Stage.

  • Free bike valet in partnership with Shared Paths Boulder and the City of Boulder. Throughout the weekend festival goers can find free, safe bike parking at Sister City Plaza. 

These features join the previously announced lineup:

  • Makers Market: From pottery to sculptures to photography to jewelry, the Boulder Creek Festival Marketplace is a diverse selection of local vendors, artisans, fine art vendors, nonprofits, wellness partners and more.

  • Creekside for Kids: With uniquely kid-friendly activities such as an obstacle course, rock wall, trampolines, yoga, family disco and more throughout the weekend, little ones aren’t going to want to leave Boulder Creek Festival. 

  • Local eats: Over 30 tasty food trucks and vendors are expected to be in attendance serving up international cuisine, American eats, healthy options and sweet treats.

The Boulder Creek Festival takes place along the Boulder Creek from 9th Street to 14th Street between Canyon Boulevard and Arapahoe Avenue. Artist, volunteer, sponsor and vendor opportunities are still available through the website
